Let's talk plant powers! This is a rather interesting power that can combine several powers into one with the right applications. Let’s look at some of the main ones!
Main Uses
This power can one of the most beautiful ones to look at if you like flowers. The ability to call forth different plants that can do different things. The most common use would be smell. Certain flowers can give certain effects to the enemy with their spores are Inhaled, like sleep, sickness or memory loss. Defense is also up this powers ally with using trees or thick bark for shields. Another one you see all the time is sentient plants. Vines and even creatures made of plants that can move on their own will outside of the norm. Plant s also can make quite effective healers by being able to grow healing herbs on command in times of need to make medicines.
Another part of plants that isn’t widely explored is solar energy. Plants will likely be way more powerful in sunny days than on cloudy ones. (Plants get most of their energy from the sun, so it’s possible to have sunflowers shoot laser beams. Just saying.)
Dark side
The gruesome side to this are the man eating plants. Giant Venus flytrap a can swallow someone whole and bones with long thorns can rip a person to shreds. But the really dark part is that corpses make surprisingly good fertilizer. A seed could be planted on a person and feed on them until the plant is fully grown or the persons is drained dry. Most plants need moisture to grow properly, so it’s important for the to consider available water nearby when making plants.
And let’s not forget regeneration. If you cut down a giant plant monster and it’s roots are still in the ground, you better expect that thing to regenerate itself pretty quick. Rule of thumb with all plant based powers: “if it isn’t uprooted, it isn’t dead.”
Let’s also this can turn the into more of a plantlike being themselves. Maybe their hair or skin starts to turn green from the chlorophyll or their blood becomes acidic or poisonous. Or worse... they can’t drink anything but water from now on.
How it’s Described in writing
Plants can’t just grow anywhere with no reason. There has to at least be soul or some kind of terrain for them to effectively grow on. Granted, powerful plants can break through concrete and string material if theirs soil behind it, but that takes a long time naturally and for a plant would require lots of energy.
Being a plant usually means one of two things:
1. You can manipulate the existing plants around you by using the fuel for them that’s readily available.
2. You can conjure plants into existence by using your own energy as well as the surrounding resources to fuel them.
Chances are drugs or poison of any kind won’t work on a plant . So don’t even try. Their bodies are likely way more toxic then anything you could get them with.
It’s also possible for the to sprout plants from their own body is the resources aren’t there. But this will take something out of them, so they can only do this so many times. This includes making weapons out of plants like swords, arrows and of course the ever famous vine whip.
Don’t forget about mutation. Lots of times the only reason lifeforms like plants can grow and change into these different forms is because they are mutated versions of their original plant. Meaning their DNA is probably different as well. However I’ve never seen a plant have an unexpected outcome or mistake with a plant mutation considering they’re unpredictable most of the time. And interesting concept to dive into would be a plant who creates specialized plants by mutations to their DNA, but every once in a while gets and unexpected result of their work.
