The White Dragon

When it comes to your favorite wrestlers whether that may be in WWE, AEW, NJPW or even something like GCW or TNA. You always have a core set of favorite wrestlers of about maybe 6 I wanna say. When it comes to TJPW, it’s on a constant change of who my favorites are each week. All the girls in Tokyo Joshi are so likable and just awesome. When I say it consistently changes it seriously does. One week it’s Himawari then it changes to Shino to Mizuki to Hyper Misao to Raku to Maki Itoh to Haru to Kamiyu to Kakuta (at the time) to Yuki Arai to Suzume to Wakana and finally to Rika Tatsumi as an example.

Rika Tatsumi, The White Dragon is such a fascinating talent. To me Rika is one of the smoothest if not the most smooth wrestler I’ve seen in the ring. She’s not a flashy wrestler or super technical but the way she simply moves in the ring I adore so much. It’s like watching water. She flows in the ring. I don’t know any other way to explain that. It’s such a treat watching her in her matches. Most recently against Mizuki at Grand Princess which was a fantastic match and is thus far my favorite match of the year. You can always expect Rika Tatsumi to deliver a solid banger or better on bigger shows.

The greatness doesn’t stop there. Her modern attire is some of the cutest attires over seen. I love it so much. The usage of White, Grey, Black and sparkles work so well together. Whatever fabric/attire she has around her boots is the best part of her attire. Not to mention she has a badass ring jacket on her way to the ring. Her entrance spooks me all the time. She leaps off the top rope and I always get scared she’ll… well *knock on wood*. When she lands she always looks for the hard cam and points at those at home. I LOVE that so much! It’s pops me every time! That alone makes you feel like you’re apart of the show. Giving you that sense of interaction. It’s a very nice feeling I look forward to each show. She makes it fun to watch pro wrestling.

Did I mention she plays the guitar? Dude that’s so badass! When I saw her bust out the guitar at a recent show a few weeks ago was gangster shit. Plus she sings her very own theme song which is a fantastic theme by the way. Another thing I absolutely love. “SAY HELLO! SAY GOODBYE”!!!! Pump up the damn volume people! We jamming out crazy style! Just look at her, having the time of her life rocking out.

Much like everyone on the roster, they all have a comedic side to them in different variations. Rika is no different, I feel like she has some of the best comedic timing in TJPW. She’s so good at giving you a funny face, I don’t know what she’s saying sometimes but the crowd always laughs at what she has to say. I think what helps her a lot is that her comedic timing or spots just naturally occur. A lot of it is just improv. Her simply reacting to one of her mistakes like accidentally not making a hot tag because her partner barely missed her hand so she puts on a shocked look on her face and places her hands on her head. While her partner tags their 3rd partner instead. I don’t know if that was planned but it was so funny to me and I’m sure I’m not doing a great job at explaining it but trust me bro it was funny really. lol.

Apparently she also turned into a menace in 2023 when she started to choke out her opponent’s. I don’t know where this came from but she’ll suddenly do it at a random point in the match and it genuinely gets a reaction out of me every single time. Especially when it’s done to the rookies. Nobody wants to get choked out. She also does the choke spot to those wrestlers that either retire or graduate from the promotion and it always lightens the mood during a sad period at the end of those types of shows.

What is there left to say that I haven’t said already? Rika Tatsumi is a very special talent in my eyes. She’s always a joy to watch and you can always count on her to give you a damn entertaining match to watch every single time. She truly never has disappointed me ever. I hope to not only watch her but all the rest of the roster one day in person when they come visit in Southern California. Unfortunately I won’t be going to Las Vegas so I won’t be able to watch and or meet them. I really hope I can meet Rika Tatsumi one day along… like I said with other of the roster.
