I miss the world I used to know

𝚜𝚘𝚘𝚗𝚊 12/04/20

When everything took your breath away

like a pinching in your chest

and it hits you like reminiscence and nostalgia

walking down the same path to school.

and you thought you knew everything

but in reality you knew nothing

When the world never disappointed you

but the people in it did—

they left cuts and scrapes

gashes in your eyes—

because suddenly everything became hazy.

you can’t see anymore

You become hyper focused towards that

perception

you want them to see you when you can not.

Isn’t this why life is dull?

I abhor it

because in the end,

I’ve been living this life too.

And you see,

sometimes I can’t anymore

the world I saw when I was seven

but seven year old me re.

The world I used to know.

I still miss it

Its almost 5am I have insomnia and for the first time ever I’m grateful for it

It’s true, it’s hard to see the world with the same wonder as you grow older and more experienced.

But when you can still do that, as an adult, the experience, in my opinion, is that much better. Because the fact that you can marvel at the wonder and beauty of the world despite knowing or having experienced all of the bad that it has to offer, just makes the view that much sweeter.

I prefer that, in a way, the defiant wonder, versus the naive wonder. If that makes sense.

Either way, this is a beautiful, poignant piece. Well done :+1: :heart:

I believe that is a beautiful way to view the world :hearts:

I’ve been so blinded by the ever growing problems and drama that come with growing up. Now I just desire the peace from when I was permitted to live without any obligations or burdens.

Being able to triumph over all that is probably something I have yet to reach ( ˊ̱˂˃ˋ̱ )

I can truly understand this! The way you look at things as a child is so much more joyful and filled with naive innocence. I miss it sometimes. You explained the feeling beautifully!
