My Review:
This is the third book in A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I have loved this ride and can not wait for the next book in this series. I want to say that this review is totally spoiler free. If you have read the first two you can totally read this review then read the third one. It does not let on about any major plot points or anything like that. I hate when I go to read a review about a book and it has a major spoiler in it so I now know all of the plot.
In this installment I found that the reason I love these books so much is Rhysand’s character. He reminds me of my spouse. I also love Sarah J. Maas’ writing style. It is one that flows so beautiful that it is like a movie in my head. The writing is not only lyrical but also descriptive. So descriptive that she even describes what the characters smell like. A good example is when she talks about Azriel, she says he smelt like “night-chilled air and cedar.” I can almost smell what our characters are smelling as I read.
Next thing that impressed me was Feyre and Rhysand’s relationship. It not only is strong but it is also healthy. A healthy partnership is not something that you see in YA literature. It is because as teens we are still learning what a healthy relationship/partnership looks like. It is an amazing to see a book where that a healthy relationship is displayed.
The third thing that took me by surprise and delighted me was the casualness of the mention LGBT+ characters. By this I mean she handled it like it was an everyday part of life. Which it is! I live that life every day. The characters in books that I have read about their sexuality has been a pretty big deal. Sarah J. Maas mentioned it as just being a part of who they are. And I appreciate that so much.
Fourth is the plot twist that happened. NONE of them I saw coming. It was just surprise after surprise. I will not tell you any of the plot twist in case you have not read it yet but take my word when I say that all you think you know, means nothing.
I found that I enjoyed being in the Court of Nightmares as well. I would love to see a spin off series about the Court of Nightmares and all the players in it. I enjoy a good hate to love character arc. My favorite characters are the ones that you are supposed to hate.
Lastly, I want to say that this novel really opened my eyes. It has made me not only want to pick up more of Sarah J. Maas books but, also want to pick up more hyped books and give them a try. I have operated that sometimes the hype is not worth it. So I have tended to shy way from them. Now I will be more likely to pick up these books and at least give them a try. This novel was a 5-start read for sure. I cannot wait to purchase this entire series and reread them over and over.

ACOWAR was a solid 4 stars for me: it was a great book...
HOWEVER there are certain things I would re-write (which I won't mention cos y'know spoilers) and Maas really shouldn't be afraid to use question marks.
But... I've been writing my own stuff recently so I am a VERY critical reader. And also I love her ideas, which are more important anyway. :dizzy:
I love sjm too! :P
acowar was one of my favs and I totally love the court of nightmares too. I kinda saw the plot twist coming though.
