Hullo Zelda Amino!!

Welcome to part one of what I'm calling "The Balatro Batch"! As you can probably guess based on the name alone, I was inspired by the pixel art of Balatro (and my own work on a collaborative texture pack for the game). I'm not going to completely follow the design elements of the Balatro cards, but I am using the same canvas sizes, which does create a fun challenge.

Anyway, without further ado, let me present the first suit:

Jack of Hearts: Cyanblu's Rebel Umbra

Rebel's design is very cute, and I was especially drawn to the sword design -- hence its inclusion in the border design. I also had a lot of fun with the shapes of her hair, especially when paired with the limited pixels of the canvas.

Queen of Hearts: ChibiTacoLord's Ruby

Ruby is another design I adore, and she was actually the first of these four that I completed. I knew I wanted her pose to be reminiscent of Zelda's painting design from ALBW very early on in the process, and it ultimately just came together from there.

King of Hearts: Marchium's Sylvester

This man gave me quite a bit of trouble... until he didn't. I genuinely wasn't certain how I was going to simplify his design to fit the canvas size at first, but after just... throwing some colors on the canvas and adjusting things, I entered a groove. Before long, the pixelification of this man was complete, and I was really happy with how it turned out.

Ace of Hearts: Ark's Ark

Okay so when I was making my list for this project (because I have an entire list), I looked through Ark's (the ) Art Fight Wiki and noticed that Ark (the character) was described as "an ace swordswoman," so naturally she had to be an ace for one of the suits... and with her color scheme, it was a no-brainer as to which one. I also debated adding more detail to the face (as I was only doing a bust), but it looked weird so I decided against it.

Like I mentioned earlier, this is only part one of the Balatro Batch, and I hope to get part two posted soon -- honestly the only reason I broke them up was because I was just too excited to not post these four ^^"
