Approximately a week ago, I asked you guys for some of you unpopular Smash related opinions. Again, I'm sure somebody has done something like this at some point on the internet so stfu. Now I actually did get a good amount of unpopular opinions for a blog, which was perfect for me. Yet I never got a name, which was something I asked for the series. But you screwed me. GIVE ME SOME IN THE COMMENTS.

Now I'm not necessarily rating these unpopular opinions. I am just giving out my thoughts. Please understand this, and one other thing.

Anyway, moving on.

My friend is starting us off strong here with the hot takes. For somebody who kinda does each of the above, I don't know what to say to that. Personally for me, I'm not the type to speculate on things, I mostly discuss stuff. If that does count however then consider it my specialty.

But I guess it all can be more of a moody thing. Since I'm not the person to speculate on things often (besides maybe drama), I guess this wouldn't fall into me. There are times where prefer discussions instead of playing, but maybe because burn out.

If you are like Algeria and don't actually play the game nearly as much as someone like me or BCY idk, then yeah I can see why this is reasonable. It's really something I can't disagree with, it all comes down to personal preferences. And I can respect this one so *thumbs up*.

Yes I absolutely have to agree with you there. I love how poorly the consensus of where Mario is on the tier list aged. People thought he was like, high mid at best before idk. Wasn't really until Wizzy came in and changed people’s minds.

I'm not entirely sure why it went like that before. Maybe it's because people were so used to how good his Smash 4 counterpart is and the changes from it, but truth be told, those changes never really affected him much.

The removal of down-throw into up-tilt for 40% on every character sucked, but at least his combo game still has the sauce. Now that I think of it, why did I drop Mario when he was so similar? I guess I just prefer the other characters I play.

I can't actually fight him on that, I kinda agree. Bowser jr. is kinda slept on. Is he good, no he still kinda sucks. But people don't give him enough credit.

Ledge-trapping is really good, juggling is nice, he has some nice setups too. I'll it I don't know all that much about Bowser jr, it I can at least see what his point is.

This one is another personal preference thing. I'm sure there's lots of other people who don't like the Persona music as much as this sadist does. But I just can't feel like I can take “X is overrated” seriously at times.

I've said something on people saying “X game is overrated” or, “this game is underrated” before in Twitter, which you should totally follow me at. I post all sorts of amazing stuff there lol.

Back on topic. What is it exactly you may ask? Well it's this: you can't call something “overrated” because you enjoyed it less than most people. It can however be considered “overrated” if it gets way too much credit for considering its flaws.

So ya see Versal, you might want to touch in that argument a little bit. You do not have to enjoy it like I do, but at least give me some flaws to why. Because if not just say you don't enjoy it as much.

I haven't played Terraria in a long time, but I still have to agree. Nintendo honestly should put in at least one Inde character in Smash. Terraria’s wide range of weapons and massive sales make it a really good candidate.

There are still other options like Celeste. That character is head to head with the Terraria MC in of chances. So if we are going to see a warzone for those two. THE HUNGER GAMES: BUT IT'S JUST TWO INDE CHARACTERS FIGHTING.

I'm doing really bad with the humour here.

I haven't played a Crash game. Yet I still disagree.

From all those wide range of power ups, it's honestly hard to say how his moveset would be “boring”. Yeah he can't have them for all his moves, but he can at least be what Mario isn't.

A character from an iconic series that uses a sh** load of power ups.

Mario is most of that sentence but you get the point. Sakurai has always been able to think of some dumb gimmick for the DLC characters. So I doubt it will be hard for him to figure out wtf to do.

Ok, yes, but mostly no. If we are looking at characters that definitely are better than most people give credit for like Wii Fit or Robin, then I'm inclined to agree.

I guess that's where the “CERTAIN” part comes from.

But if we are talking about K. Rool, Doc, or Little Mac, then I'm not inclined to agree when we have all those weaknesses and the fact they have basically zero losing matchups. Another part being...well, let's put this into a conversation shall we?

I don't really have a side for this argument. I agree with how he is less iconic and isn't nearly as substantial to Nintendo’s history. But there's a good chunk of characters in the roster people, also didn't know outside of Smash.

I guess you could say they are iconic inside their fanbase or at least more than SMRPG, but I don't know. I could possibly see myself touching on this topic in the future, but right now I'm clueless.

“What about the research?”. I have a deadline to beat so stfu. I also procrastinated enough doing a lot of other things. One of which may be questionable.

I think what I said before can kinda give a hint; I disagree.

Little Mac is undoubtedly the undisputed worst character in Ultimate. Hell he is so bad, I think he deserves his own tier in every list. But when we look at other characters like Ganon, Doc, and K. Rool, they also have way too many compelling weaknesses and basically win virtually zero meta relevant matchups. They overall just struggle so much in the meta to actually not be considered “bad”. Which is what low tier is referred to. The bad charctaers.

I guess I should personal preferences, but holy crap dude. How does anyone like battling this piece of sh**. Yes I know Yoshi can just jump out of PK Fire, but don't even get me started with fair. That move combos into everything.

Thank Sothis they nerfed down-smash so the charging hitbox didn't last forever because that move was so fu**img dumb. Down-B also may even be a top 5 move in this game.

Suddenly this just turned into a Ness rant lmao. I guess I should change the title.

Anyone who uses the fact Byleth uses a sword against him is easily a hidden hypocrite if you dig deeper. They probably wanted Dante or Sora too.

Now when it comes to Sora, I actually disagree with the group who says he can't get in...oh hey he's coming.

If you look at the results of who was the most desired character in Japan, America, and Europe, it actually shows Sora is the most wanted worldwide.

So unless Sakurai didn't take popularity into consideration or pack 2’s characters were developed before the announcement/results, Sora seems likely. The fact Disney of Japan actually said themselves they were okay with Sora being in Smash does increase the chances.

I actually wanted to make a blog explaining why I felt he wasn't impossible. Maybe I will do it.

Ok let's try this again. If this post gets 200 likes, I'll defend Sora lol...no please, likes please.

Sad this unpopular. And for anyone who disagrees, I'll just say this. Who else in the cast has:

-Disted Smash attacks that kill early and can whiff punish even swordies

-A projectile that does so much and interrupts everything

-Fast and short on the ground

-Has a great MU spread and actually fares ridiculously well against swordies

-A great recovery

-Tilts that confirm into kill KILL confirms

-Ledge-guarding is great thanks to water shuriken and hydropump

Ok I'll only focus on one and that being the last one. Welcome back to the interesting hot takes.

I do actually during post E3 where people were a bit concerned on the graphics of Ultimate. Mostly due to how it didn't culture the cartoony style that Smash 4 has mastered (personal hot taken from me). So this actually wasn't too uncommon to hear of.

With that being said, do I agree? Well, to be honest, idk. If we look at the perspective of “cartoony graphics” then sure, I have to say I'm inclined to agree. But do I prefer Sm4sh’s graphics in general? Well I would say I think the graphics in Ultimate make the stages look more fresh and polished, but that's probably because I am so used to Ultimate's graphics.

Alright I love Fire Emblem. I've played Three Houses multiple times (on Blue Lions), currently am playing Awakening, and have some other games to play. What am I getting myself into with me playing Fates exactly?

Now do I think it's perfectly represented? No not really. If we look at Marth/Lucina and Chrom/Roy, there's just too many similar differences which doesn't do too well to it's representation. Now if it was just Roy like this, I'm fine with it. But Chrom deserves way more than what he got as Roy’s clone.

Lucina also had really no reasons to be in the game by the way. Yeah she is an important character in Awakening, but Chrom and Robin are both the main protagonists. If I was Sakurai, I would've had Lucina be in his final mash and made Chrom entirely different from Roy.

In fact, if I was in charge of FE representation for the next possible smash game, he's what I'd do.

1. Keep Marth, Chrom, Robin, Byleth, and maybe Ike in.

2. Remove Roy, Lucina, and Corrin and make Lucina a part of Robin’s Final Smash.

3. Give Chrom an entirely new moveset

4. Tell people to stfu about the possible new FE character

5. That's it

6. I said that's it so why I am typing this?

Smash is never as fun without crazy items and ridiculous stages, at least not to me. Honestly Miki, that comes down to personal preferences. I don't care that you like items more than most of us. But I am going to focus on the “competitive smash bad part”.

Nintendo never intended to have Smash be played as it is now. It was meant to be more of a casual game. So it's no surprise why it's not as aimed towards the competitive side like Street Fighter 4 or MK 11. It's not as balanced as other fighting games, but what is?

Now in this day, Nintendo is being a lot more ive to the competitive smash scene with how it's now sponsoring events. Now, take the fair stages of play, remove the op strats, and you got a really good competitive scene.

Yes there's some bad characters out there, but it's at least good to know that this entry of Smash is more balanced and aimed toward that democratic.

But Brawl on the other hand, yeah that's not nearly as good as today’s smash.

When you take a look at it in that perspective, he does have a point. My guesses to way some of these mechanics were put in and out were to be more friendly to newcomers. That part being a big reason to why the scene is so big. Evo was stacked af boys. Melee of course is more technical than Ultimate. So that's where the “Melee is more interesting part comes in”.

I do see where he is going. To me though, I don't have as much of a problem when it comes to the mechanics as long as it doesn't become a big problem. The removal of powershielding being a great example of how projectile characters basically run Ultimate’s meta.

I don't need to say much. I hope this becomes common knowledge. Ganon’s style of getting bodied when he loses neutral for the 973377328393939383737383838th time but killing you ridiculously early just doesn't work. It ended off with such poor execution for how Ganon basically become bottom 5 yet again.

He basically gets rewarded for good spacing compared to every other sword fighter, yet spacing is a general goal of every sword fighter. *This just felt more noticeable to me in 4 more so than other smash games, that does not mean Marth took even less or more skill in Melee Brawl or Ultimate.”

Agreed, disagreed, and let me go into detail.

Smash 4 Marth was easily the Marth that was ive for people who prefer less technical characters. That part can agree on. The little skill is kinda true when we look at his points. Especially for how combined with rage, tippers could kill at 30%. Marth could be the same as he was in Smash 4 in Ultimate, but the tip is sadly just too small. So you REALLY have to space it.

And for the final unpopular opinion of this blog.

Well said, obviously sarcasm. I would say I'm surprised to hear this, but I've heard it a lot so I can't really say that officially. I'm going to keep this short because I've been writing this blog for probably over two hours.

Without tier lists, we wouldn't get an official sense of who is good and not. It's easier to look at a list for a few seconds then go on and look at what everyone has to say about every character. If I am being honest, we kinda need them. It's just way easier to get better results if you play a better character.

Yeah you can do some good stuff with a bad character, but it won't keep you at #1 forever. Yeah you beat the best player in your sate with Ganon and a broken hand, you also main Falcon *cough* Zerick. But would you rather go to top 3 by switching to the frog brotha? Let that sink in, and hopefully we don't hear this ever again.
