🖤 Legacy Challenge: Pokémon Black and White 🤍

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version are 2010 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. They are the first installments in the fifth generation of the Pokémon video game series. First released in Japan on 18 September 2010, they were later released in Europe, North America and Australia in 2011.

These games were my childhood and my first ever Pokémon games, so I figured that I'd make a challenge based on the Gym Leaders/Champions!

Spoilers for Pokémon Black/White!

(This challenge is based on having most of the packs! Sorry about that!)

Generation 1: Trio Badge

"Triple Threat!"

Striaton Gym is the first gym that the player will visit in Pokemon Black and White. Uniquely, this Gym has three brothers for Gym Leaders, and the Gym Leader faced by the player is determined by the starter the player chooses. The Gym is styled after a café; each of the Leaders serve as waiters.

Make a set of triplets, choose one to play as your founder, and have fun!

Generation 2: Basic Badge

"An Archeologist with Backbone!"

The Nacrene Museum houses the second gym that the player will visit in Pokémon Black and White. It is a museum showing various historical treasures is located at the heart of Nacrene City. The ground floor of the Nacrene Museum is where all of its showcases are located, arranged symmetrically along the left and right sides of the walls. By ascending the flight of stairs at the back of the museum, the player can access a library room, which also operates as the Nacrene Gym.

The Nacrene Gym is the official Gym of Nacrene City. The Gym consists of a library that require Trainers to find the right answers to opponents' questions through the readable books, before engaging them in battle.

"Welcome! The director of the Nacrene Museum and the Nacrene Gym's Leader is me! Lenora! Well then, challenger, I'm going to research how you battle with the Pokémon you've so lovingly raised!"

Traits: Bookworm, Family Oriented, Dog Lover

Aspiration: Archeology Scholar!

Generation 3: Insect Badge

"Premier Insect Artist!"

The Castelia Gym is the official Gym of Castelia City, and the third gym that the player must face in Pokémon Black and White. It is located on the western-most street above the Liberty Pier and also doubles as a working art gallery.

The Castelia Gym is designed like a huge beehive. It contains many small hexagonal rooms, several which are cut off by walls of honey which are at first barricaded by gates. There are buttons which are placed in the center of most of the rooms, and if certain buttons are stepped on, they trigger the gates to descend.

However, not all the buttons trigger the doors to descend; some instead make Trainers appear who will then challenge the player. The player is able to walk through any wall of honey, as long as there is not a raised gate over it, allowing the player to navigate through the Gym and eventually reach Burgh. The Gym is also decorated with pictures painted by Burgh himself.

Traits: Creative, Art Lover, Genius

Aspiration: Painter Extraordinaire

• Collect all of the Insects (the Entomologist Delight Award) and own an Insect Farm!

Generation 4: Bolt Badge

"The Shining Beauty!"

The Nimbasa Gym is the fourth gym that the player must face and is is designed like an amusement park, filled with brightly-colored neon lights, floating stars and roller coasters. Upon entering the Gym, there is a huge open room, filled with transparent platforms. The roller coasters within the Gym are scattered around the room, all connected by platforms. The player must find their way around the Gym by walking into the roller coasters cars, in which they are then taken to the next platform.

Within several of them, Trainers are hiding, and when the player opens the cars, the Trainer will engage the player in battle. Also, there are several switches around the Gym, which redirect the path of the roller coasters. However, many of these are also guarded by Trainers. The final roller coaster slightly differs from the others, featuring a large loop-the-loop, and partially speeds up after a slope before the loop-the-loop.

After navigating through the roller coasters, the player will meet Elesa.

Generation 5: Quake Badge

"The Underground Boss!"

The Driftveil Gym is the fifth gym that the player must face, and features a number of elevators that are in the mine shaft layout which must be navigated up and down and girders which need to be crossed to reach the central elevator, which will take the player down to Clay at the bottom of the mine shaft. There are five Trainers on the way down, though the player only has to battle three to reach the Gym Leader.

One of the Trainers in the Gym mentions that the depth of the Driftveil Gym helps to remind Clay that he once started at the bottom with nothing.

Generation 6: Jet Badge

"The Highflying Girl!"

The Mistralton Gym is the official Gym of Mistralton City and the sixth gym that the player must face. The Gym is a converted cargo plane hangar which is located north of the runway. It is based on Flying-type Pokémon. The Gym Leader is Skyla.

Mistralton Gym is designed like a military hangar. In Pokémon Black and White, the inside is full of cannons which the player must use to make their way to Skyla. Most of these cannons help the player to progress to Skyla; however, some will blast the player back to a Trainer.

"Hee-hee! I've been waiting for you. Did you enjoy flying with the help of the Mistralton Gym cannons? They're my pride and joy! This time, let's try something else!"

Generation 7: Freeze Badge

"Ice Mask!"

The Iciruss City Gym is the seventh gym that the player must face and, like in most other Ice-type Gyms, the challenge here is a skating challenge. There are curved surfaces which curve the skating. These surfaces can be redirected by stepping on colored switches. There are also two sets of ramps that can be jumped to get over seemingly bottomless ravines.

After defeating Brycen, the player can take a long ice slide back to the entrance.

Generation 8: Legend Badge

"The Spartan Mayor!"

"The Girl Who Knows The Heart of Dragons!"

The Opelucid Gym is the eighth gym that the player must face and is designed like a thin maze, with switches to open up the correct path. These switches cause dragon statues' heads to move, creating new paths for the player. After the switches have been hit in the right order, the path will lead the player to the Leader.

Behind the Gym Leader, there's a warp tile the player can use as a shortcut back to the entrance.

Depending on what gender your heir is, choose either Drayden or Iris! If you have twins, choose whichever you would like!

"Welcome. Thank you for coming. I am Opelucid Pokémon Gym's Leader, Drayden. As the mayor, I've given everything to developing the city. As a Trainer, I've simply been pursuing greater strength. But what I'm searching for now is a young Trainer who can show me a bright future. Perhaps you can show me that future, the way Iris has?"

Aspiration: Soulmate
