i wrote this letter for my sister to tell her all the things i don't say out loud. i might write it out and give it to her but if i don't, it still felt good to write.

ᴅᴇᴀʀ sɪsᴛᴇʀ,

Though I never say it, you should know you mean the world to me. I love you in that way only sisters can. Even though we didn't grow up together and you spent most of my younger years drug addicted, I still feel close to you.

I can't thank you enough for helping me when my parents wouldn't. I don't think I ever would have gotten psychiatric treatment if you hadn't stepped in. My mental health was so bad back then; I would have died if it wasn't for you.

And here you are now, still helping me. I've been complaining about my psychiatrist for years but you're the first person to listen me and try and help. I love you so much for that.

I'll never forget how you ed me when I came out. You were one of the only two people who didn't react with homophobia. I don't know what I would have done without you then.

I love that despite your uncaring and sarcastic exterior, you care deeply for those around you. You're always ready to help someone out, even when it inconveniences you. Like when you took in your friend's eight cats while he was in the hospital despite the fact that you already had three of your own.

I ire how hard you work to take care of your family. You might work at a gas station, but you're going to college too, along with working full time. Not many people can do that and a whole family.

You're the strongest person I know, too. Despite struggling with bipolar, drug addiction, abusive boyfriends, and so much more, you haven't ever given up. After getting out of jail you dedicated yourself to getting your life together. You've had some falls, but you always get back up.

Hanging out with you always brings my mood up. You're hilarious; almost everything you say is a joke, but you always know when it's time to be serious or comforting. I can go to you with almost any problem and you'll give me honest advice.

In short, I love you. You're an amazing sister
