The Poem Before My Hiatus.

I met you by chance, fateful encounter

And just as quickly you’re gone, so I, in a manner of sorts flounder

A spirit beautiful and rich beyond measure

Every poem in reply to poem sent, one I could treasure

Hesitant I was, to become at all attached, but you were very kind

I felt like my world had gone empty, but the universe gave me a Syne

I miss you.

It’s a mistake to expect someone amazing to stick around

Grave error to let another effect your feelings as absence will bring them down

Expectations I projected onto another person

Cause the immaturity of the anima to worsen

Clearly I have not been putting in the work

Otherwise I would not feel like such a jerk

I don’t know what it was that I did that caused you to flee

I can sit and wonder, but ruminating’s killing me

So here I am composing a poem to let you go

Whether or not you read it, or ever even know

Goodbye, dear friend.
