The Midnight Game is an urban legend about a dangerous ritual that involves summoning the Midnight Man. The game involves a set of rules that must be followed, and if the rules are broken, the Midnight Man will catch the players. The Midnight Man was initially used as an executioner to punish those who went against the gods of the pagan religion .The Midnight Man is a pagan spirit, often depicted as a malevolent entity, associated with a ritualistic game where players attempt to summon him during the midnight hour, usually by following specific instructions involving candles, a circle of salt, and a mysterious box; if the game is not completed correctly, the Midnight Man is said to manifest, preying on the players' deepest fears and causing harm to them.  While this ritual has not been practiced for years, there is still a high risk of death or insanity to anyone who plays the Midnight Game.If the candle goes out and the Midnight Man is near them they must relight it in ten seconds or the Midnight Man will immobilize them, create a hallucination of their worst fear and rip out their organs, one by one.

According to the entries about him on various websites, he can see inside your mind and dig out your deepest fears, trapping you inside a hallucination that will last until the game ends. If you feel a sudden drop in temperatures, hear phantom whispers, or see a dark, shadowy figure, the Midnight Man is near. Again, keep moving and protect your candle’s flame. Here's the rules of this ritual/game. And finally, and perhaps the most creepy of the bunch, don’t assume that just because the game is over the Midnight Man has left. Some say once you’ve played, he never truly leaves. He’s always watching.
