hello, i’ve been wanting to post a routine i have, and this challenge was the perfect opportunity! if you want to enter, here’s the ellie!

my routine
〘 8:30 — put electronics away 〙
i know it’s time to start winding down when i stop using my electronics. i usually put them away around 8:30, after turning on a playlist hooked up on my bluetooth radio. it’s titled ‘sleepy’ :) it’s basically just a bunch of softer, more calm songs. i cannot sleep without music (or any other noise like a fan), so this playlist helps me :)
〘 8:45 — finish up or polish any homework 〙
i use this time to do any homework on paper, not my laptop.
〘 9:15 — get ready for bed 〙
after homework, i get cozy in my pajamas. i also take out my s, brush my teeth (sometimes floss), wash my face (sometimes do a face mask), then apply moisturizer and acne spot treatment.
〘 9:30 — use my agenda and planner 〙
i use my school issued agenda for more homework related purposes, then my planner at the end of the day for more personal topics. i’ll transfer over any homework i didn’t finish to my planner’s daily / weekly section, add personal goals, and update the calendar section.
〘 9:45 — stretch 〙
before i get all cozy in bed, i stretch out. i read somewhere that stretching before bed can help you get into more comfortable sleeping positions quicker! i’ve done it ever since i read that lol.
〘 9:50 — read or be creative 〙
if i have extra time, i’ll usually read a book. if i don’t currently have a book i’m reading, i’ll make a friendship bracelet, write in my diary or prayer journal, etc. this is probably my favorite part of my nightly routine!

what i wish i would / could do before bed
〘 bathe 〙
i take showers in the morning, i can’t stand the way i feel if i don’t. i wish i could take showers or baths at night. it would probably help me sleep better and save time in the morning.
〘 plan / prep my meals 〙
i wish i would plan out and prepare my breakfast and lunch for the next school day. i usually have a vague idea of what i want, but i always leave it for the morning. that uses up my time in the mornings when i’m trying to get everything ready for school.
〘 make tea 〙
i love the idea of drinking warm tea at night. however, whenever i drink warm tea it feels weird in my throat lol. maybe if i did it more i’d get used to it. also, i think i should start making my tea for the morning at night from now on. i usually drink green tea in the mornings. i like it cold, so i could put it in the fridge while i sleep!

advice!
here is a collection of my best sleeping advice, tips, or tricks!
↳ try to turn off electronics at least an hour before you go to bed.
↳ try to stop napping — but if you have to, limit it to twenty minutes and in the morning.
↳ try to avoid looking at your alarm clock during the night to decrease anxiety or stress (face it away from you, put it far away, etc.)
↳ try to fall asleep and wake up at the same time everyday. yes, this includes weekends!
↳ regular exercise helps you sleep better! try to avoid working out at night though, it gets your adrenaline going, making it harder for you to sleep.
↳ try to turn off, dim, or lower your lights as soon as possible. lower light signals your brain to create melatonin, the hormone that makes you sleepy! i like to light a candle and read by the light of it.
