Good afternoon, everyone. It's time for part two of the blog series explaining my least favorite recolors for the cast in SSBU. This one will feature the 14 newcomers to Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Let's continue...

Peach: white dress
Since first ing the Smash family in Melee, Peach is a fighter whose costumes I have generally felt happy with. My pick for her is this pure white dress.
Though seeing Peach wear a wedding dress is beautiful, I feel that it slightly clashes with her Fire outfit. I have a small canon that it could be a variation of Nurse Peach, although she has since gained a different costume in Dr. Mario World as Dr. Peach.

Bowser: yellow skin
Compared to other fighters, King Bowser got more changes to his recolors over time. This was one of the new ones for Smash 4.
Honestly...I don't like the combination of colors here. I suppose it's meant to be yellow and purple, but the latter color is given a weird shade to it. Even in Smash 4's increased vibrancy, this skin felt meh to me.

Ice Climbers: red and gray parkas
Between Aaronitmar, Odyssey Central, and WiiDude83, I noticed that the Ice Climbers tend to be looked down with their costumes. Most are original to Smash, which I don't find inherently wrong...
This outfit gives Nana as the player-controlled climber. Her wearing red could be a reference to her look on the boxart and a brief sprite change when hitting an enemy. I am mostly not big on Popo wearing dark gray, though.

Sheik: yellow outfit
In the transition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sheik's outfit resembles a costume that Link can wear in Breath of the Wild. Most of her costumes now call back to different dyes you can use in-game.
Due to my nature of being easily amused by simple palette swaps, I am not bothered by any of Sheik's costumes. The yellow one just impresses me less so.

Zelda: violet dress
I can agree with the general consensus that Zelda has her best design in Ultimate. This extends to her eight colors.
I choose this violet one as the least favorite due to it looking just slightly less prettier than the rest. It is based on her Ocarina of Time dress.

Dr. Mario: blue coat
It's pretty cool that Doc's colors refer to real life doctors and nurses. The blue one here is based on what typical doctors wear, although it's just as likely to be taken from the blue virus in Dr. Mario.
Pardon me for sounding like "that guy", but...I liked how this looked in Melee more with the purple accents. Gray and blue is a good combo, but I really did dig the purple details from before.

Pichu: red ribbon
In the 17 years between Melee and Ultimate, Pichu got a big increase in his costumes. Nearly all are cute references to headwear in Pokémon games.
The one outfit that I am not wowed by is the red ribbon. Without the extra backpack from Melee, this costume looks less interesting IMO. I know that the blue goggles lack the backpack as well, but I have a soft spot for goggles Pichu...

Falco: green jacket
Falco Lombardi's colors in Ultimate are all recycled from 4, just with greater detail and less saturation. After seeing how bright the green costume was in 4, it certainly looks less interesting here in Ultimate...
Green was actually my favorite color for Falco in Melee, though it's due to my envisioning it as a "gangster" jacket at the time. The turquoise color tends to be scrutinized, but I like the shading on the feathers.

Marth: blue(r) armor
Most of the time, I find myself enjoying "Instagram filter" skins in Smash. They either change up the color enough or have cute references.
This color, though, looks incredibly similar to Marth's typical navy attire. I believe that it's based on his look from a later Fire Emblem game...

Young Link: light blue tunic
Of the three Links, I think that Young Link has the coolest set of colors. You basically get every color of the rainbow.
If there's one reason why I am a bit eh on this tunic, it's that it references default Link's Champion tunic. I don't mind stuff like that most of the time, but I see it less necessary for Young Link.

Ganondorf: grey-blue skin
Moving onto Ganondorf, I also feel that his costumes are fun in Ultimate thanks to reusing his great Ocarina of Time design.
While some of his colors blend together, this greyish blue skin stands out the least to me. I like it, but the others are a little bit nicer.

Mewtwo: brown skin
Brown was one of Mewtwo's added colors for his return in Smash 3DS/Wii U. In my research, it looks similar to an alternate color he can sport in Pokémon Stadium.
Even so, I don't think that brown really works for Mewtwo. It's a good, chocolatey shade, I suppose, but I think the others fit a bit better.

Roy: dark costume
Of the eight Fire Emblem fighters, Roy has the coolest set of costumes. They are beautifully vibrant and come with nice references. Excellent!
This blackish purple one, added in Smash 4, is based on an antagonist named Zephiel (I hope I spelled that right). Not a bad skin, but lighter purple looks better on Roy.

Mr. Game & Watch: teal color
Mr. Game & Watch has a strange situation with his costumes. Roughly half of them use shades of green and blue, even though a fighter like him would work with any color...
I do like the color teal, but compared to the standard blue and the turquoise, it's my least favorite. Game & Watch can benefit from more distinctive colors, that's for sure...🤔
That is it. Thanks for reading!
