Hello Everyone !
So I'm usually described as a "calm person" and even though there is some truth to that, I have very bad anxiety.
Over the years I have found some strategies that have helped me calm down. These are just tips! It doesn't mean that they will cure your anxiety. Because some of us are so anxious that we have to take meds (cough cough).
It can be different for everyone but I wanted to share some things that have helped me in my times of stress.
Anyway! Let's start shall we ?

Like most people, music has helped me through so much. Songs can bring you a whole rainbow of emotions: it makes you sad, it makes you happy, it makes you angry and it can even make you feel in love.
We all have different tastes in music. I, for example, prefer calmer music. If you are like me, check out my other post where I recommend some of my favorite calming songs (calming songs post).
But music is a strange thing that makes everyone feel differently. So if your stressing out over something or someone. Breathe in, breathe out, and listen to some of your favorite tunes.
I wouldn't recommend songs that make you feel sad (unless you are wanting to cry). Songs that make you feel angry could relieve your stress but I would recommend songs that calm you or make you feel happy.
Heck if some hard core metal song manages to calm your nerves, then go ahead and listen to it!

If any of you watch the BBT you'll know that Sheldon gives his friends hot beverages when they are sad. Which is probably the best idea Sheldon has ever had :,)
I am a tea lover for many reasons. It does help me when I'm sad and it calms me down. Even making it is a calming experience.
If you don't like tea, that's ok! I find that most hot beverages are calming. Hot cocoa is always nice to drink on cold, rainy days. It naturally brings a cozy feeling, reminding you of those calm moments.
I wouldn't recommend coffee, since you are trying to calm down. But mocha would be a good options if you truly want some.

If you are like me, a lot of your anxiety comes from you not doing what you are supposed to be doing or feeling like you aren't doing anything productive.
This happens a lot during vacation. We are used to having things to do and accomplishing those things gives us a sense of joy. But when you have no tasks it's very easy to feel what I like to call "blegh".
If you're feeling restless, trying to find something to do. Then do something! It can be chores (washing the dishes, washing clothes, cleaning...), it can be exercising or it can be something artistic (playing an instrument, writing, drawing...)
If you are anxious because there is something in the back of your head that you know you need to do. Then do it! Get it over with or do a little of it to feel better.
The feeling of accomplishment is more calming than you might think!

Some of you read this and thought "WHAT? PEOPLE JUST STRESS ME OUT EVEN MORE!" This tip definetly isn't for everyone and being alone is often calming. But in my personal experience, good company has helped me quite a bit.
I believe we all have that one person who helps us feel calm. Someone you can be yourself with, someone who understands you, and is always there for you (during the good or bad times).
That person can be your friend, a family member, your partner, your therapist... Doesn't matter, as long as that person is someone you can trust and someone who knows how to listen. If you are stressed don't surround yourself with people who stress you (obviously)
Talking with someone about your problems or about anything, helps let things out that you have been dealing with all by yourself.
If you don't want human company, go enjoy the company of your pets.

We have so much entertainment at our hands today, so we might as well enjoy it.
Distracting our selves from real life can be good sometimes. The world can be such a cruel and tiring place. Why not escape it by living vicariously through your favorite story?
Just make sure you don't read or watch something that is very serious or depressing. Make sure it's something light hearted that makes you feel good.
For example my feel good show is Brooklyn Nine Nine (which is a comedy). I highly recommend it.
