Sharing Events - Why You Shouldn't

What do you mean by "sharing events"?

I mean sharing things that have happened, such as: why a was demoted, why a member was banned, etc. Those types of events. I've seen dozens of Aminos do this. Most announce why a leader or curator was demoted, but some (usually smaller ones) announce why a was banned. Of course, I don't just mean announcing things like this within the community. That includes other communities - including Leader Amino.

This is where I have to say:

STOP IT.

Announcing why someone was banned or demoted, whether it be here or in your community, is not the way to go! This includes ranting about what someone did, and then saying you ended up banning/demoting them. You need to stop for multiple reasons. They're listed below.

Sharing Events - Why You Shouldn't-[BIC]What do you mean by

1. It's annoying.

When helpful people (Eve, Invisi, etc.) scroll through the feed here, they don't want to sit and read your post, only to find that you already solved the issue. It takes their time and probably annoys them. For your community, it's annoying because didn't come to see the drama fest that happened. They came to enjoy your Amino's topic.

2. It causes drama.

Here in leader amino, you aren't always sure if the member you banned or the you demoted is here, unless they made it known to you. So when you post your side of the story, then may start arguing on how "it didn't happen like that". I've seen dozens of arguments like that here. Within your community, who may have been friends with the person you demoted/banned may get upset. They may start claiming you're power abusive, and that their friend wouldn't have done something like that. A lot of people ban over stuff like that, which just causes even more drama.

3. It's pointless.

Most people who see this said post, whether it be here or in your community, usually don't care about why this happened. Most times, if they care they'll ask you.

4. It's unprofessional.

Frankly, it's just unprofessional to blast someone like that. Most times, the person who was demoted or banned doesn't want that shared. Doing so, especially without their permission, is highly unprofessional.

5. You shouldn't share that info.

Sharing such info is just wrong. It's private info, between you (and maybe your team) and the . Especially if the doesn't want that info shared. You shouldn't share it for the world to see. As stated in the points above, it's annoying, unprofessional, pointless, and dramatic. This especially applies when you put the person down. (example: saying the is power abusive, or saying the banned member is an idiot)

As leaders and curators, you are expected to be professional and respectful. Sharing events like this makes a lot of people think you're anything but. So, to avoid drama and pointless stuff:

STOP SHARING EVENTS.

I have experienced this and it usually started because the banned s are the popular ones and their friends are protesting, but when an explanation blogs are posted, they made more drama about it, and the cycle continues. How do you avoid this?

Yea still stands today, one specific community im in had shared information on a ban for a and it started a fire-storm of people claiming missing information, bias on the staff, so on it was. Alot.

Just keep it short and simple. No need to pull out the screenshots.
