Theo: [thinking] I hope Mia likes this card. Should I give it to her at school or when we go to the Branble Woods?

I think Mum planted some roses outside. I might give her one of those too.

Theo's Dad: Hey, you're still up? Have you finished your homework?

Theo: Yes Dad. I'm just making a card for Amelia.

Theo's Dad: Aww that's really kind of you. I'm sure she'll love it. Make sure you don't stay up too late. I don't want you to be so tired that you can't concentrate at school.

Theo: I won't.

Theo's Dad: You know I'm expecting well of you Theo with your studies. I want you to do well and have a bright future.

Theo: [sighs] I-I know

Theo: ... and Monique got me a box of chocolates. I had to get a bag to put all the things I got.

Amelia: I saw at least five girls trying to give you something at lunchtime. You looked quite overwhelmed.

Theo: I was for a bit. I had to hide at one point.

Amelia: [laughs] I wondered where you disappeared to. Some of the girls were looking for you.

Theo: I can relax now at least. Being here is peaceful. I don't have to stress about anything.

Amelia: That's what I like most about this place.

Theo: Having you here for company makes it even better. Oh that reminds me, I have something for you.

Amelia: For... for me?

Theo: You didn't think I wouldn't get you anything, did you?

Amelia: I-I don't know. I wasn't expecting anything.

Theo: Well I did. I hope you like it

Amelia: Wow this card is lovely!

Theo: Oh, there's one more thing...

Amelia: A rose? Ohh wow, it's beautiful. I wish I got you something.

Theo: You did. Our friendship is the best gift you can give.

Amelia: No one has ever given me flowers before...

Theo: Maybe I can gift you some on your birthday. Oh wait, I shouldn't have told you; now you know what I'm planning to get you.

Amelia: [giggles] That's ok. I'll probably forget you told me.

Amelia: [to herself] I didn't think I'd get anything today.

Amelia: He didn't have to. He did give a few people a flower today... but he picked this one out just for me. Does it mean something? Or is it Theo being Theo?

Amelia: Best friends... that's all he sees me as. He would have said something if he felt differently.

Amelia: ...Maybe I do like him.
