Challenge Season - Cooking Challenge: Pan Fried Fish

At the beginning of an Unexpected Journey, Bilbo can be seen frying a fish in the kitchen of Bag End.

I expect that his preparation would be a fairly simple affair, with a little flavouring.

To this end, I thought I’d try to prepare a pan fried fish dinner as Bilbo might have made it.

Melting a little butter in a pan, I added some herbs (finely chopped parsley and basil, garlic salt and cracked black pepper).

I then fried whole leather jacket fish, turning them every few minutes and frequently drizzling the upper surface of the fish with butter and herbs from the pan to keep it most.

I cooked it for a total of 10-12 minutes (covered to stop the fish from drying out) until the surface was slightly crisp and golden brown

And served it drizzled with a little squeezed lemon (as we see Bilbo do) and accompanied with seasoned air fried sweet potato chips.

My 2 & a half year old loved it!!
